Unity Beyond Membership

The Christian Church, as depicted in the New Testament, embodies a shared identity rooted in faith in Jesus Christ, transcending local affiliations and cultural divides. City Tabernacle believes that formal membership can sometimes create boundaries that distract from the Church’s wider mission as a unified witness to Christ’s love.

In Acts, the early Church met regularly, shared resources, and devoted itself to teaching and prayer. Believers understood themselves as followers of Christ and participants in a mission larger than any one local gathering.

True unity in the Church is rooted in a shared identity and mission that transcend walls, reflecting the universal fellowship Christ intended.

One Body, One Faith

Paul’s writings emphasize the oneness of believers in Christ: one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all. Scripture also calls believers to continue meeting together, encouraging love and good deeds.

City Tabernacle therefore encourages commitment to Christ and His Kingdom above all else. We value regular attendance, accountability, service, and relationships with other congregations while seeking to avoid divisions that formal membership can sometimes create.

We encourage believers to devote themselves to the mission of the Church universal and to engage with one another as members of one body in Christ.
